Engine

In conjunction with Solution F, Renault Sport Technologies has developed a brand new engine based on the aluminium cylinder block used on the Nissan 350Z Coupe. Aside from the cylinder block, all the parts used are specific to motor racing.

Transmission

The Formula Renault 3.5 is fitted with a 6-speed, semi-automatic sequential gearbox with gear change via steering wheel mounted paddles. The clutch pedal has been taken out, giving drivers the possibility of using left-foot braking.

On-board electronics

The fact that development for the Mégane Trophy and Formula Renault 3.5 projects ran simultaneously meant it was possible to create synergies in this domain. Both cars have adopted the Magnetti-Marelli Marvell 6R system which includes engine and gearbox management, as well as data recovery, in a single, interchangeable and sealed electronic unit.
